Bespoke Contemporary Oak Staircase Designed with CAD and Architectural Precision
This modern oak staircase in Swiss Cottage was created in collaboration with df-dc.co.uk and represents the intersection of traditional joinery and contemporary architectural design. The staircase is built entirely from solid oak, with full-height solid oak side panels replacing any conventional balustrade — the result is a bold, sculptural form that reads as a single piece of furniture within the open-plan living space.
All-Oak Floating Staircase with Solid Panel Balustrade — Open-Plan London Home
The staircase was designed using CAD software and structural calculations to ensure the cantilevered form could be delivered safely and precisely. Set within an open-plan ground floor with polished concrete flooring and a large skylight overhead, the pale natural oak finish contrasts beautifully with the industrial materials surrounding it. The design by DF-DC architects was realised without compromise in the workshop and on site.
