Bespoke Modernist Oak Staircase — Collaborative Project with DF-DC Architects
This refined modernist staircase on Elliott Road in Swiss Cottage was created in collaboration with architect Diego Calderon of df-dc.co.uk. The design is minimal and precise: limed / whitened solid oak treads and risers sit within solid oak side panels, with a slim wall-mounted metal handrail as the only visible hardware. No spindles, no newel posts — just clean planes of timber and the geometry of the stair itself.
Limed Oak Open Staircase with Wall-Mounted Handrail — Swiss Cottage NW3
The whitened oak finish was chosen to work with the light-filled interior, reflecting natural daylight and maintaining the sense of openness throughout the stairwell. The precision of the joinery — tight mitred corners, flush panel faces, perfectly level treads — reflects the exacting standard required by both the architect and the client. Every detail was resolved at design stage and delivered without compromise on site.
