Bespoke Modern Oak Staircase with Double-Sided Curved Handrail, Swiss Cottage
This impressive staircase from the QSW White House project in Swiss Cottage was created in collaboration with DF-DC Architects. The design combines solid oak treads with slim black metal vertical balusters and a beautifully curved continuous oak handrail running on both sides of the staircase — a rare and technically demanding feature that transforms the staircase into a centrepiece of the open-plan interior.
Solid Oak Treads, Black Metal Balusters and Continuous Curved Oak Handrail
The double-sided balustrade — with matching curved continuous oak handrails sweeping in parallel from the ground floor to the first floor — demonstrates both the structural engineering capability and the joinery skill required to deliver a staircase at this level. The warm natural oak finish of the treads and handrails sits in sharp contrast against the black metalwork, creating a contemporary yet timeless result suited to the high-specification interior.
