This project in Hampstead comprised two bespoke curved staircases, both made entirely from solid oak. These helical staircases design rises with a graceful sweep through the full height of the house, with each tread, spindle and handrail crafted from the same warm, natural oak — giving the staircase a beautifully unified, organic appearance.
This bespoke bannister features slender square oak spindles topped by a fully continuous curved oak handrail, shaped and bent to follow the sweep of the staircase without a single break or newel post. This level of craftsmanship requires precision design and bending techniques that few joiners can deliver. The natural satin finish preserves the warmth of the grain throughout.
